Kara Bowman, LSW

Kara Bowman is a Licensed Social Worker originally from Northern Virginia. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish at Randolph-Macon College, then earned her Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from George Mason University. Prior to starting at Emerald Psychiatry, Kara worked as an IHBT therapist and supervisor in Nashville, Tennessee, then as a Clinical Lead Therapist in a Cleveland Public School. She works with teenage and adult populations and specializes in anxiety, depression, trauma, generational trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and LGBTQ+ issues. She incorporates various modalities including CBT, DBT, strengths-based interventions, mindfulness, and somatic interventions.
